Canada is expanding its access to the world and making it easier for people to travel to Canada. After the inclusion of three Caribbean countries to the visa-free eTA Program, now Dominica & Grenada has joined the CAN+ Visa Program. The news was a breath of fresh air for Dominican and Grenadian Passport holders. Canadian High Commissioner, Lilian Chatterjee made this news public via her Twitter account.
Canada is visibly improving its ties with the Caribbean region. The reason is definitely the popularity of citizenship by investment schemes. Investors are extremely inclined towards getting Caribbean passports and the number of applications is double in the first half as compared to the last year.
How CAN+ Visa Program is different from eTA?
Many people confuse the two visa program options so here is the clarity you need. eTA Electronic Travel Authorization is basically an easy way to travel to Canada without a proper visa application. Whereas, CAN+program requires a visa application and processing regardless of the applicant’s US visa status. For eTA, it is a must for the applicant to have a Canadian visa in the last 10 years. But the CAN+ Visa program doesn’t really focus on the travel history of the applicant. Both processes are expedited and applicants do not need to wait for visa approvals for months.
